Epigraph and preface

In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

By the passing of time! Truly, man is in loss, except those who believe and do righteous deeds, and urge one another to the truth, and urge one another to patience.

In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Preface

People are driven by their beliefs more than by their ideas. For this reason religions will continue to hold the reins of the movement of human history and of human conflict, and the craft of theological discourse, dialogue and debate about religion will remain for as long as man exists on earth.

It falls to the scholars of this craft, those distinguished by a mind that seeks what is right and true and by a will that seeks the good and the happiness of humankind, to distinguish truth from illusion and right from wrong in the beliefs and opinions that human beings hold. Man's salvation and success depend on their freeing themselves from caprice and on the sincerity of their intentions in guiding man to the truth and the good.

I sincerely pray to God that my motive and purpose in what I have written be to contribute to achieving this aim, which is the aim of every true religion.
